Stephen Wake is a finger-style guitarist from Scotland, whose main playing style reflects the traditional folk music of Britain and Ireland. He grew up on the small island of Orkney, an island of rich cultural and musical history. Stephen plays a variety of styles ranging from slow melodic airs to lively hornpipes, not shying away from jigs and reels which he combines to make sets that are both technically challenging but easy to listen to. His arrangements of Celtic solo finger-style guitar have been praised by El McMeen, Steve Baughman and Al Petteway. In 2015, El McMeen reviewed Stephen's debut album "Journey's End", of which he said "Stephen's treatment of jigs and reels pays proper homage to the brilliance of players like Tony McManus and John Sherman. His more languid phrasing of the slower tunes, including the way he draws up to and presents the important melody notes, reminds me of the artistry of Steve Baughman"
