Rey Pila formed in Mexico City in 2010 their name means King Battery in Spanish. The quartet (Diego Solorzano, Andrs Velasco, Rodrigo Blanco & Miguel Hernndez), specializes in synth-driven dance-rock. In 2012 they started working at DFA Studios, that's when Julian Casablancas was hooked by their song Alexander and signed them to his Cult Records label. The Strokes singer produced 3 tracks on 'The Future Sugar,' which finally emerged in 2015. Rey Pila then took a less is more approach to their latest EP, 'Wall of Goth, (2017) also co-produced by Casablancas and Shawn Everett. In 2018 they opened Depeche Mode's Mexico City shows. A year later, they would also be invited by The Cure to do the same. After releasing a self-produced EP, Lucky No.7 (2019), the band ventured into new musical territories to expand on their characteristic sound for their third LP, Velox Veritas, co-produced by Dave Sitek (TV On the Radio) and released by Arts&Crafts Mexico in August 2020.
