I'm a 53-year-old outdoorsman from Alberta (Canada). I share over 35 years of lessons with my fans, some of which have been learned the hard way. I'm into long-distance wilderness backpacking, canoeing, kayaking and general outdoor pursuits. I post videos of all my adventures, but what I'm really passionate about is solo backpacking. I have a unique style of documenting and narrating my solo trips. My favorite wilderness area is Jasper National Park, with its 1000+ km of back-country trails. I tend to do less popular hikes because I like to get away from people. I often hike with my wife and our three sons, sometimes as a large unit, and sometimes with only part of the family. I have a daughter, but she has never been on an overnight hike with us. I also hike with my faithful dog, Tikka, a 7-year-old female Border Collie / Bluetick Coonhound mix. I also post the occasional gear reviews and "how-to" videos on outdoor skills. I'm a professional engineer by training.
