Welcome to my channel: Your resource for dhol lessons & entertainment, not to mention, an insight into my life! When I initially started learning dhol in 2006, there were virtually no resources available, either by book or videos to learn the instrument. The way to learn back then was to have a student/master relation, that is, an ustad and shagird relationship. It was like that for many years, and to a certain extent, its still the same today because it is difficult to distinguish the tone of a certain strike just by watching a video. Although dhol is becoming a more prominent instrument around the world, there is still a shortage of skilled teachers. This material is not intended to replace having a teacher, because there is an infinite amount to learn and dhol is everchanging, but instead, it is here to supplement the training you receive. It provides alternative techniques, viewpoints, and approaches to the subject that a student otherwise may not encounter. Manvir Hothi
