Jaripeo / Rodeo is a form of bull riding practiced mainly in United States, Central and Southern Mexico that developed in the 16th century. Originally, it was a form of bull fighting, but evolved into a form where the rider simply tried to ride the animal until it stopped bucking, rodeo/jaripeo is a sport that involves a rider getting on a bucking bull and attempting to stay mounted while the animal tries to buck off the rider. Outside of the United States, bull riding traditions with varying rules and histories also exist in Canada, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Australia and New Zealand with the majority of them following similar rules, especially with the Professional Bull Riders(PBR) organization of the United States.
